Here's a little tutorial how to enable automatic login in ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot):

First off, go to the Applications Menu and go select Applications -> Systems Tools -> System Settings

Then select User Accounts:

And then select the account you want to automatically login, Unlock the admin rights and select the Automatic Login switch:

As simple as that !

Here's a list of my favorite and most useful apps on my android phone.
You have to understand that I have an old Lg Shine plus with Android Eclair (2.1) and I don't have a 3G connection.
So theses are the apps that work for me and they are all free!

If you are a Babytel customer, you can use this app to change your account settings and make phone calls over wifi or 3g. Oh yeah and I created that app!

If you have a Boxee system, this is a cool app that turns you phone into a remote control.

IP Cam Viewer Basic
If you have a ZoneMinder system or any IP camera or webcam, you can use this app to monitor them.

Two great weather apps. Not much to say.

AndSMB
Cool app that lets you browse smb drives on your network. Usefull for transfering files over you home network.

Nice file browser. Don't know why there is not a native android app for that though.

Dropbox
Access your files on your dropbox account.

Wifi Manager
A nice wifi manager. A bit better than the native one and also it has a nice widget that I use alot.

As you probably know, the original package of boxee does not work out of the box. If you tried to install boxe using dpkg -i you will se there is some dependency problems.

Here's what to do.

First you have to repackage the orinal Boxee and repair a broken dependancy:

dpkg-deb -x boxee-0.9.22.13692.i486.modfied.deb boxee

dpkg-deb --control boxee-0.9.22.13692.i486.modfied.deb

boxee/DEBIAN gedit boxee/DEBIAN/control

Then go change the libxmlrpc-c3 to libxmlrpc-c3-0

And repackage the new Boxee like this:

dpkg -b boxee boxee-works.deb

Then this would normaly work for Ubuntu 11.04 but fo 11.10 some other dependancies are broken:

Selecting previously deselected package boxee.
(Reading database ... 212104 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking boxee (from boxee-new.deb) ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of boxee:
 boxee depends on libsdl-gfx1.2-4; however:
  Package libsdl-gfx1.2-4 is not installed.
 boxee depends on libtre4 | libtre5; however:
  Package libtre4 is not installed.
  Package libtre5 is not installed.
 boxee depends on libhal1; however:
  Package libhal1 is not installed.
 boxee depends on libhal-storage1; however:
  Package libhal-storage1 is not installed.
 boxee depends on screen; however:
  Package screen is not installed.
 boxee depends on libxmlrpc-c3-0; however:
  Package libxmlrpc-c3-0 is not installed.
 boxee depends on xsel; however:
  Package xsel is not installed.
dpkg: error processing boxee (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Processing triggers for desktop-file-utils ...
Processing triggers for gnome-menus ...
Processing triggers for bamfdaemon ...
Rebuilding /usr/share/applications/bamf.index...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 boxee

All you have left to do is install theses dependencies like this:

sudo apt-get install libsdl-gfx1.2-4 libtre5 libhal1 libhal-storage1 screen libxmlrpc-core-c3-0 libxmlrpc-c3-0 xsel

Note: In my case I'm not coming from a clean install of ubuntu 11.10 I upgraded from 11.04 so maybe there is other stuff to do or less stuff to do, please comment!

Here's a list of channels I get with my OTA(Over the air) HDTV antenna.

I live in Montreal, (H1N 3B1) and my antenna is pointed towards the south.

Sometimes I also get FOX but depends of the weather...

The red one is a special one.... because there's habs games on Saturdays and all the playoff games! Go Habs Go!

I started up a project of creating a small program to help DIYourselfers create small clean energy projects. For now the program provides tools to estimate the quantity of solar panels, solar cells and batteries it would need to power up an electrical equipment for a determined amount of time.
This is the first version so it's in early stage of development.
